Recycling for Raptors
I've been sending used ink cartridges in support of the University of Minnesota's Raptor Center for a number of years now. The Raptor Center "specializes in the medical care, rehabilitation, and conservation of eagles, hawks, owls, and falcons." The Center treats approximately 800 birds a year...You can visit the Center to see their magic and get up close a personal with a raptor!

Interesting story (or not)...
I took the kids to Mounds Park this summer and the Raptor Center was, by coincidence, there to release three broad-wing hawks they had doctored back to health. They don't usually publicize when they release raptors.
So just before they were going to let the birds go, a wild red-tailed hawk started swooping in, and they aborted the release for the day. Evidently, too likely that the red-tail's attack instinct would be triggered.
Too bad... unlikely the kids will get the opportunity to see a release like that again.
